Our Story

Empowering Women to Redefine the Future of Work

About us

Empowering Young African Women in the Corporate World

We celebrate the ambition, resilience, and brilliance of early-mid level career women across Africa who are charting their own paths in the professional world. Born from a desire to see more African women thrive not just survive in their careers, we are building a community where mentorship meets opportunity and support fuels success.

A Message from Glory Edozien, PhD

9to5Chick was born from a simple observation.

Many women enter the workforce believing that hard work alone will carry them forward. But progression is rarely automatic. It is shaped by visibility, access, relationships, confidence, and strategy, factors that are often learned slowly, accidentally, and sometimes too late.

I created 9to5Chick to change that.

We exist to support women in the early and emerging years of their careers, from their first roles through the transition into mid-management with the guidance, community, and insight that help careers move with strategy rather than chance.

Through mentorship, practical development experiences, and honest conversations about how workplaces really work, we help ambitious women build clarity about their direction, confidence in their voice, and the credibility that positions them for opportunity.

Our vision is not simply advancement, but preparing a generation of African women who are not only capable of leadership, but visible, trusted, and ready when opportunity appears.

Our goal is to ensure the pipeline of female talent on the continent and to achieve this, we must equip women from the very start.
