“In Africa’s Private Sector only 5% of women make it to the very top of the career ladder”.
According to McKinsey 2016 report, Women in Africa are underrepresented at every level of the corporate ladder-and fall in number the higher they climb. Even in sectors where the numbers of women seem to be increasing, these increased numbers do not necessarily mean influence.
Lack of the right mentorship and sponsor opportunities, low skill acquisition, gender bias in work place and recruitment and company policies are just some of the challenges that prevent women from excelling in the work place.
“9to5chick is a career development hub dedicated to equipping professional women with the skills to thrive in the workplace.”
